Timber Framing with the Timber Framing Guild (Saturday) (Copy)

Borders Farm is excited to partner with the Timber Framers Guild (TFG) in support of their 40th anniversary. As part of the TFG’s “40 Frames for 40 Years” celebration, Guild members, Borders Farm members, and any volunteers who would like to join us will be cutting a timber frame woodshed for the farm manager’s house on the weekend of July 26-27. This is a community event and we welcome folks to stop in to enjoy some fresh air,  good company, learn a bit about timber framing and even help cut the frame. Experienced timber framers and novices are all welcome to join in. We will have some practice timbers to learn the art of cutting mortises and tenons to help build confidence before trying it for real.  We will be at the Phillips house (31 North Rd. Foster RI) from 8-4 Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th. There will be fun, food and a chance to help out the farm while learning about the craft of timber framing.  A big thank you to Phil Hauser & Hauser’s Timber Frames for supplying the timbers for the project. Please reach out with questions or stop in on your way to or from Foster Old Home Days.
