Mission Statement
The purpose of Borders Farm Inc. is owning and preserving the land in Foster, Rhode Island donated by Charles and Margery Borders known as “Borders Farm” as a working twentieth-century farm and a National Historic Preservation District. Every action must honor that trust, while balancing the good practical use of limited resources.

We are an educational, cultural, and recreational resource for the inhabitants of Foster and surrounding area;
We maintain the Farmhouse and its contents as a museum;
We are charged with preserving the land as open space except as otherwise required for farm operations and for the purposes of providing living history and educational programs and recreational opportunities;
We continue to enhance farm operations including the provision of appropriate improvements, supplies, and equipment;
We provide such educational, volunteer, and recreational opportunities as are consistent with these purposes such as participation in farm activities, use of trails for hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, wildlife and bird observation, but not recreational hunting, motorcycling, snowmobiling, or using any other recreational motorized vehicles;
We employ such caretakers and other employees as trustees shall deem advisable to accomplish the foregoing purposes;
We apply for grants to further Borders Farm’s historical, cultural, educational, and agricultural goals and administer and manage work done for those grants;

We do the things necessary to further the purposes listed above including receiving aid or assistance from other organizations.
