Farm Manager Zach Bain officially started working at Borders Farm in the Fall of 2018 but had previously enjoyed volunteering in the Community Garden when he was a high school student here in Foster. He now fulfills a variety of duties around the property including making hay for use on the farm, brush cutting invasive species in the fields and woods, and daily care for the 20-30 beef cows and calves. Working with the farm committee, Zach makes decisions on rotational grazing, field management, and cattle breeding. Zach also works with the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) and NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service) representatives to manage our woods and fields. He and his wife Lauren also operate Lucky Dogs Farm, a small scale farm based at Borders Farm selling plants, vegetables, flowers and more at the farm and local farm markets.
